Day 1

We start with the city. After a morning pick up at your hotel or airport we travel to District 6, where we meet up and tour the area with one of the ex-residents of this district. Personal stories and visits to the now abandoned streets illustrate not only a slice of the cities apartheid history, but also a thread of it’s current energy, culture and general lust for life. We experience a slice of that new urban energy when we stop for lunch at the famous Truth Coffee, voted the world’s best coffee shop by the The Daily Telegraph for a second year in a row. Before heading out of the city bowl we visit the legendary Wale Street in the Bo-Kaap and take a quick photo-walk up it’s brightly colored streets. Our route out of the city for the afternoon and evening takes us over Kloof Nek and then slowly south on the super scenic Victoria Drive towards Hout Bay. We soak up some late afternoon sun at Hout Bay Harbour, and capture some organic harbour scenes before heading towards the world famous Chapmans Peak Drive to shoot sunset and twilight scenes of the bay, mountains and ocean from this incredible pass. Once the sun has slipped into the ocean, and the light is done for the day we head to the Deep South, dinner and our accommodation for the evening.

Day 2

We start the morning with an optional sunrise photo-walk on the beach. Those that want to may sleep in, or enjoy the sunrise over the ocean at their leisure. After breakfast at out accommodation we travel the short distance to boulders beach, and spend some time utilizing the early morning light to capture images of the penguins at this world famous site. On leaving the penguin colony and scenic beach we head slowly along the coastline toward Muizenberg, stopping as and when we want to. There are many scenic stops worth exploring on this stretch, including Kalk Bay (where we have to stop for coffee at the legendary Olympia Cafe), the Dalebrook Pools, St James and Surfers Corner at Muizenberg. After a beach-side lunch at Muizenberg we head toward Franschhoek and the Cape Winelands. Once checked into our accommodation you will have the option of exploring Franschhoek in the afternoon or accompanying me to the Huguenot Monument for a photo-walk. We take a drive up the scenic Franschhoek Pass towards Villiersdorp in the late afternoon to capture some sunset and twilight landscapes. We return to Franschhoek for dinner.

Day 3

We again start the day with an optional sunrise session, this time from the Robertsvlei Road looking down over Franschhoek and the mountains beyond. We return to the accommodation for breakfast and then head out to the local township of  Groendal where we meet up with a local guide who shows around the vibrant township. We go from serious 3rd world scenes to proper 1st world luxury when we leave Groendal and head to Babylonstoren for lunch and a visit to this renown Wine Estate. We visit the very graphic Taal Monument (Language Monument) in Paarl after lunch where the organic shapes and structures make for a fun photo-walk. Our last stop en route back to Cape Town is at Bloubergstrand where we have the opportunity of capturing the iconic Table Mountain from it’s most favorable vantage point.

Your Guide

I am a professional photographer and a registered tour-guide. I have shot just about everything under the sun (and moon) – all in (what I hope) is a unique reportage style. I love capturing landscapes and moments from my own viewpoint, as they unfold, rather than scenes that need manipulating or styling. I am also a very relaxed and easy going guy, love the color yellow best and dont like apples. Give me a shout if you would like to chat, I am available for skype consultations should you wish to break the ice before booking a tour. Give me a shout at +27(0)715576400 or mail me at

Cost is dependent on the time of year and style of accommodation you prefer. Send me your details and preferred dates, as well as whether you prefer 3, 4 or 5 star accommodation and I will custom build the tour to your budget.
