Your Guide and Photographer

I am a professional photographer and a registered tour-guide. I have shot just about everything under the sun (and moon) – all in a unique reportage style. I love capturing landscapes and moments from my own viewpoint, as they unfold, rather than scenes that need manipulating or styling. I am also a very relaxed and easy going guy, with a beard, love the color yellow best and don’t eat apples. Give me a shout if you would like to chat, I am available for skype consultations should you wish to break the ice before booking the ultimate cape photography tour. Day 2 – Heading to The Southern Tip Of Africa

We leave the Mother City for The Overberg, traveling via the world famous Clarens Drive. We stop often to enjoy (and photograph) the views and a lazy lunch en-route. Once arrived at Cape Aghulas we shoot a sunset and twilight session at the spectacular lighthouse and tidal pools nearby.

Day 3 – Into the Winelands

This is a great road-trip style day, 1st we cruise the short distance to Arniston, stopping to shoot the country scenes and then enjoy a visit and lunch at Arniston. After lunch we head towards the Cape Winelands, and Franschhoek. Again, we travel slowly, immersing ourselves in the spectacular scenery. We spend the rest of the day shooting images in and around Franschoek or taking a stroll through this beautiful town.

Day 4 – Heading West to Paternoster

We start the day with the customary Sunrise Session, after which we pick up a local guide for a Township Tour near Franschhoek. On arrival in Paternoster you will have time to wander through the town or get some sun on the beach before we head out for our sunset and twilight shoot.

Day 5 – Back to Cape Town

A chilled day with more time for shooting, relaxing and sunbathing. We also visit Columbine Nature Reserve, lunch on the beach in Langebaan and end off our tour by shooting the iconic sunset Table Mountain shot from Bloubergstrand.

Day 1 | The Mother City Experience | Cape Town

We start our tour at the iconic Bo-Kaap, with it’s brightly painted cottages and lively vibrant streets. It is as good a part of Cape Town as any, to get some insight into the cities past and what makes it tick. We then head south, aiming for the quaint fishing village of Kalk Bay, but taking out time and stopping occasionally to shoot some of the most scenic spots along this most scenic route. We stop for lunch and a quick photo-walk at Kalk Bay Harbour which makes for great imagery with it’s old-school fishing boats and salt of the sea fishing folk. Our next stop is the world famous Boulders Beach, with it’s Penguin Colony which we catch with lovely late afternoon light. We depart as the sun dips ever closer to the horizon and travel through Simonstown to Noordhoek and then onto the legendary Chapmans Peak Drive. Here we shoot stunning sunset and twilight imagery of the pass, mountainside and ocean over Hout Bay. Once the sky has darkened completely, we head back to Kalk Bay, our accommodation and a well deserved dinner. Our accommodation for the evening is at Moonglow Guest House or similar.

Day 2 | The Southern Tip of Africa | Cape Aghulas

We start the morning with an optional sunrise photo-walk from a viewpoint overlooking the City Bowl. Those that so wish are welcome to stay in bed or start the day more in a more leisurely fashion. Once we have breakfast behind us we head out of Cape Town towards the Overberg via Kleinmond. On this stretch we experience one of the most beautiful stretches of road in Africa, Clarence Drive. We take it easy on this stretch, and stop regularly to stretch our legs and shoot some beautiful images. We stop in Kleinmond for a beach-side lunch, and possibly some whale watching (depending on the time of year). In the afternoon we head towards Cape Agulhas, and the southern most tip of Africa. Once we are checked into our accommodation you will have some free time to explore the town or relax before we head out to shoot amazing twilight landscapes at the 2nd oldest lighthouse in South Africa and local tidal pools. Our accommodation for the evening is at Agulhas Country Lodge or similar.

Day 3 | Into the Winelands | Franschhoek

We start the day with an optional sunrise session along the rocky coastline. A great chance to shoot some long exposure ocean pools and waves. After breakfast at our accommodation we visit the marker and Africa Map installation at the southern most point before heading out to the nearby fishing village of Arniston. We take our time on the short journey, and have a few stops en-route to shoot the beautiful Overberg countryside. At Arniston we explore the traditional fishing village with it’s original cottages and also the beautiful beach and harbor before enjoying lunch at the Arniston Hotel. After lunch we travel to Franschhoek via the most scenic route, again enjoying stops to take in and capture the views en route. Once checked into our accommodation you will have the option of exploring Franschhoek in the afternoon or accompanying me to the Huguenot Monument for a photo-walk. We take a drive up the scenic Franschhoek Pass towards Villiersdorp in the late afternoon to capture some sunset and twilight landscapes. We return to Franschhoek for dinner. Our accommodation for the evening is at Centre Ville Guest House or similar.

Day 4 | Township Experience and The West Coast | Paternoster

We again start the day with an optional sunrise session, this time from the Robertsvlei Road looking down over Franschhoek and the mountains beyond. We return to the accommodation for breakfast and then head out to the local township of  Groendal where we meet up with a local guide who shows around the vibrant township. We go from serious 3rd world scenes to proper 1st world luxury when we leave Groendal and head to Babylonstoren for lunch and a visit to this renown Wine Estate. After lunch we head out towards Paternoster on the West Coast. On arriving at Paternoster and checking into our accommodation you will have the option of relaxing for a few hours or taking a stroll through the village and harbor area. We set out to shoot some stunning views, scenery and architectural studies in the late afternoon and into twilight. Once the sun has slipped into the Atlantic, we stroll to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Our accommodation for the evening is at De Linden Boutique Guest House or similar.

Day 5 | Heading South to Cape Town | Tour Ends

A sunrise session shooting architectural twilight’s, ocean sunrise or whatever you wish is again on the cards for the 5th and last morning of this tour. Those that prefer, may take it easy and sleep a little later. After breakfast you will have an hour or two of free time to explore the village, or take in the sun on the beach. Around mid-morning we head out to Cape Columbine Nature Reserve for a photo-walk in the reserve, at the lighthouse and at Tietiesbaai. We travel back to Paternoster for a long lazy final lunch on the beach before turning south and heading back to Cape Town. We stop at a legendary beach shack in Langebaan en route for coffee, and then at Blouwbergstrand to capture the most iconic image of Table Mountain before arriving in the city and saying goodbye.
