Winelands Wedding Shoot - Tara and Tony got hitched in the Winelands, near Stellenbosch. Their eclectic ceremonies included Scottish and Hindi Rituals, and was beautiful, and colorful and lovely.

I seem to be a really lucky guy. These kids were just amazing. Really. Love my job.

A one minute wedding video, as a sneak peak, composed entirely of stills captured on the day, at Claire and Michael's amazing wedding in Cape Town at the beautiful Beau Constantia. One of my best of the year...

bride and groom moments

Bride and Groom Moments happen all day long. Generally, you are obviously watching for moments that occur between the Bride and Groom during the ceremony and reception, but this image was taken as we wrapped up Tessa and Davey's Portrait shoot...

bride before images

This Bride Before Image is one of my favorite shots of Justine during her before ceremony shoot. The architectural elements of the amazing house in Belvidere...

big smile wedding moments

Big Smile Wedding Moments happen in the blink of an eye. As a wedding photographer you kinda have to try to see into the future, to predict where and when a moment might occur...

wedding ceremony moments

Wedding Ceremony Moments sometimes feature people other than the bride and groom. I love this shot from Gert and Tanya's wedding, shot during the ceremony....

eastern bride

This shot of Eastern Bride, Alisha is one of my favorites from my first Pakistani Muslim Wedding, shot recently in Den Haag, Holland....

wedding group shots

Wedding Group Shots are one the things that can be done differently, and more creatively, with a bit of planning and factoring in of a little extra time...

sunset bridal portraits

Sunset Bridal Portraits are kinda iconic images. They don't happen all that often, as the logistics involved in the wedding day often mean that timing your bride and groom shoot for sunset time can be a hit and miss affair...

george wedding photography

Well, I pretty much tell all my clients that they should expect, and plan for their day to possibly run a little late. Best not to stress, or add extra stress to your day. Just let it flow I always say.

Reportage Wedding Photography Blog

This is my reportage wedding photography blog. The images here represent my personal favorite images from recent wedding shoots. They represent my aesthetic, my eye, or the way I see things. I most satisfied with an image when it captures a moment, a moment that tells a story. Often the moment that tells the best story is not the same moment that offers the least shadow, or most flattering light, or your best side, but rather one that engages, tells a story, makes you look again. I appreciate the value of capturing the most beautiful essence or aspect of a subject, and will capture those images for you also, these however, are the images that I felt were the most compelling….

About me: I shoot creative reportage wedding photography (and other stuff too). I am very easy going but do what needs to be done to get the shot, am bearded, love the color yellow best and don’t trust apples. I describe my style as creative reportage wedding photography, but I think the best may just for you to have a look at the images and decide for yourself. I don’t shoot ultra orthodox documentary (unless you ask me to) as I do “arrange” the odd photo, specifically your Bride and Groom Portraits. Basically, I try to predict and read the moments as they flow, and set up myself, or the background, or the light , so that I can capture those moments as they occur naturally, without any input or direction. Even so, I don’t direct or pose you as a couple. I might ask you to stand here or there (when shooting your formal portraits) , or face this way or that, but I always allow you to interact with each other naturally,  so that in essence I am arranging the backdrop and light, not your pose or posture or interfering with the natural narative of the day.  I also like to think that I am good with people, and that’s important on your wedding day, trust me, you don’t want a sergeant major to be co-coordinating your shoot. I am based in South Africa but work internationally. I travel on an EU passport.
